Tulip Time

It is wonderful to be a family photographer in Istanbul in April. In February and March the children and I watched the careful planting of thousands of bulbs in Gülhane Park, and then the colours and varieties (120 are used in Istanbul’s Tulip Festival) begin to spring up in quick succession, forming a stunning backdrop. In this session I captured a lovely mother and daughter as they played among the flowers in Gülhane Park, explored the old stones on the way up to Topkapi Palace, and ran around the fountain between Hagia Sophia and The Blue Mosque.
